A Lovely Time In The New Forest

18.October 2014

Our Journey

As the air chills down and acquires a delicious crispness, and the leaves start to turn and crunch underfoot, you know that autumn is here and the long warm days of summer are coming to an end. There is so much to enjoy in this season though and nowhere better to spend it than in the bounds of The New Forest.

The best way to see this area is to spend a whole weekend to really explore it’s nooks and crannies. Finding holiday cottages in The New Forest is super easy; this way you can relax and enjoy the area at your own pace.
Here are a few things that will make for a lovely weekend:

  • Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary. This isn’t a zoo or an animal park, but is a sanctuary where deer are permitted to roam freely throughout the property. As such, seeing deer isn’t guaranteed but, if you arrive around feeding time, you have a great chance of spotting a rare white deer amongst the herd.
  • Burley Manor Riding Stables. A great place for youngsters, and beginners of all ages, to try our horse back riding. The stables have horses available for all level of riders and offer guided rides for one or two hours.
  • Bike Riding. With more than 100 miles of safe, flat, biking trails, the New Forest is a great place to take the family for a bike ride. As the leaves turn color and the air is nice and cool, this time of year makes it eaven better. Pack a picnic and make a day of it!
  • Lymington Saturday Market. If you’re lucky enough to arrive on a Saturday then the Lymington Saturday Market is a must-visit. Stroll along High Street and peruse the stalls selling crafts, plants, knick knacks, and paddywacks. There is something for everyone and plenty of food vendors for when you get peckish.
