Monday Moment: Bia Hoi Shop, Hanoi, Vietnam

Monday Moment, Vietnam

Beer Shop Owner, Hanoi, VietnamOne of my favourite things to do in Hanoi is to find a Bia Hoi (or fresh beer) shop, sit, and watch the world go by. It’s a popular pastime; there are over 3000 Bia Hoi shops in Hanoi.

We visited this one regularly during our time there. This is the owner. He would come down the steep staircase, pull up a stool, and enjoy a beer at the end of his day.

He even smiled at us once.

I didn’t go to any of these when I was in Hanoi, but I’m hoping to return with Andy, so maybe we’ll do it then.

I’m starting to think I may be the only travel blogger in the world who’s not a beer drinker! But this guy’s face is hilarious, and I can imagine it must have been a shock to see him smile for the first time.

Bia hoi is one of my favorites and one of the reasons we are NOT moving to Vietnam, otherwise we would find ourselves drinking bia hoi all day instead of working, being healthy, and doing other things besides drinking beer!
