Tipping Our Hand
We haven’t been honest with you.
You’ve been asking what we’ve been up to, or what we have planned, or how’s the job going…and we haven’t been honest.
In reality, we’ve been up to quite a bit, we have some huge plans, and the jobs…well, we’ll have to see.
You see, we’re planning on doing some traveling. A lot of traveling. In June 2009, Jason and I will set off for a one year journey that will take us around the world. Yes, one year. Yes, around the world. We have been dreaming and planning and scheming for some months, and now, it’s time to tell you all.
We have put our place on the market and, when it sells, we will move into an apartment until our departure date. This ensures that the place sells before we leave, that we get top dollar (as the market is in decline) and is one less thing to worry about later on.
As you can imagine, there is a ton of work to be done to prepare. We are busy planning itineraries, researching visas and entry requirements, determining which vaccinations are needed, selling the house, developing a blog…and biting our nails!
So…now you know. Ask us any questions – we’re excited to talk about it. And check back here for more news as our plans move along.
Gillian & Jason,
I am SO happy for the both of you. What an adventure this will be! This is the kind of thing that the rest of us only think about. YOU guys are actually doing it! This will be a trip you will remember for the rest of your lives. I can’t wait to hear all about the plans and I’m sure you’ll keep us up to date as to where you are when you are travelling.
Again, thrilled for the both of you.
Hmmmmmm……I wonder if good ol’ Victoria will see Gillian & Jason again for awhile after this trip? Adventures await.
I had to leave a comment on your website as no one has yet!
All the best,
Mandy
I am gobsmacked.
I am also very proud and impressed by you guys.
Life is full of surprises, n’est-ce pas?
Gillian and Jason!
Next to finding each other, this is the smartest thing you guys have ever done!
You have picked the most perfect time in your lives to do this adventure. The perfect time is NOW! Congratulations…. hmmmm… we may have to meet “somewhere” in 2010!
love Linda, Ron and Katelyn
What a perfectly divine idea! Great, great plan, you two. We look forward to hearing more well before next June.
Cheering you on,
Georgi and Lawrence
That is cool, cann’t wait to see some of the other comments.
What a way to spend a midlife crisis! Looks like it will be alot of fun.
I will have to get out there for the big 40 then in November and a few weeks early for Gillian’s Birthday.
Keep in touch Bro.
Cheers and all the best.
Kevin
Good decision and one you will never regret. Selling up before you go leaves lots of room to chase opportunities as you travel. Hopefully we will be somewhere interesting for you to include in your itinerary. Great news.

Hi Jason and Gillian
Will you be going to India? They have elephants and camels there that you can ride. Did you know that if an elephant looks you straight in the eye, it means “good luck.” That’s what I heard. See you soon.
love Katelyn
Awesome :) I can’t wait to track you on your travel blog!
Let’s go riding / catch up some time between Sept. 11-16th!!!
Talk soon,
Jenn
I am so happy for you both. I always hear people saying they would like to do this but never have the courage. You will have an experience that will stay with you forever and bring you closer as a couple. I will miss you both but hey we got 8 months or so to see ya off!!!!
Yay! I’m so happy for you guys! And I’m so glad you decided to document it online!
Sounds like you both will need 2 new bikes for the trip around the world… :) …..GOOD FOR YOU to take the step and go for it! -Marty.
Thank you all for the support and enthusiasm!! It’s been fun telling you all and finally being able to talk about it. We’re looking forward to hearing all your stories about your own travels!
Congratulations on taking the first big steps! I’ll definitely be checking back to see how things are going.

Hey Gillian and Jason,
We wish you all the best of luck planning your RTW trip! It´s great you´re planning so far in advance. We were rushing toward the end, so it´s smart to plan further in advance. Our house was on the market for 3 months and didn´t sell, so now we´ve resorted to renting. It all works out in the end, but it´s good to start early. Best of luck in your planning!! Looking forward to reading your blog.
Cheers,
Jodi
